Calm the storms that drench my eyes
Dry the streams still flowing
Cast down all the waves of sin
And guilt that overthrow me....
ONLY GOD CAN DO THAT...God bless you Jars of Clay!!!

I heard this song for the first time tonight on the radio. It was exactly what I needed to hear. A God-Nod, for sure.
Thanks for posting and here's s shout-out to all my sisters and brothers in Christ--love ya, keep strong in the Faith and I'll meet you all someday at Daddy's House.

There is some ambiguity in the tune in terms of its meaning. However, quotes from interviews with the band and with the songwriters might help isolate whether this ambiguity was intentional (seeking a larger market share) or not and what the song meant/means to them. I suspect Jars was seeking an audience beyond Xtian rock. Why else would they hire a King Crimson alum--Belew--to produce?.

Truly, I just point out that this album, their first, was self-titled Jars of Clay, which is a Bible reference, and that you have to take albums as a whole, and if you listen to the whole album, it's definitely about the band's faith. I agree that it's a great message. But for me, you can't take the reason for the message out of it, or there will be no growth, same as if apples had no seeds, there would be no more trees, and so no more apples (hence more trips to the doctor :p you get my point)
