The singer (?) is Adrienne Posta, not Wendy Richards! Adrienne Posta was quite well known in the 60'S and 70's. A chirpy, cockney, sparrow tyoe, not unlike Babs Windsor or Wendy Richard.

Yeah, but you're forgetting all the terrible crap that's come out of Jamaica over the years. Even 1,000 Volts Of Holt is a classic album.... but there's some syrupy shlop on there. Let's not just love a song cause it was released in 1971, you know what I mean? FURTHER MORE. This song actually had so much of a pop impact, it was versioned in Jamaica. Ever heard "Heavy Reggae"? I just see this as being a precursor to that 2-Tone era English Ska. (which can be a lot of shlop too at times mind you)

Agree with you, but this song should be taken for what it is: pop. It brought back memories for me, but musically not a patch on the Trojan stuff which I still have on vinyl.
