I love Japanese styles of Martial arts! But sense I come to USA I want to join martial arts again but iv see many Martial arts that are very stupid... In a Taekwondo school I have see a 6 year old blackbelt... In Japan black belt is very hard for a man to get and takes at least 8 hours. But in this game version of TKD I see it was maby 45 min... They dont teach how to fight, just how to get points in tournament lol But in USA a good place is Krav Maga =D and many more too, but some is very bad

I am looking for new members of a group whose primary focus is to establish Karate Do as a restriced label based on a list of guide lines that must be fulfilled before any dojo can use the name of Karate. As a member you have the rights to add ideas to the guide lines or debate some of the current ones. in order to become a member you must believe in the priciple that Karate Do is a true marital art and not just a sport.

the point system isn't bad if executed correctly. it just depends on the fighter. on the street one hit could spell the difference between life and death. in mma, it teaches accuracy... just look at george st. pierre, lyoto machida, and anderson silva-took taekwondo at an early age. look how the point system has developed thier accuracy.

Restricted label = agreed
BUT
Karate is evolving like every other martial art. It may not be evolving into something that we all like but nevertheless we cannot just "preserve for the sake of preserving". Every proper Karate sub-style has its unique added quality and is a new, evolved art, just like modern boxing is something that evolved from Queensbury Rules tournaments.
The only necessary thing is a good teacher and a lot of hard work. Put your heart in your martial art and it will pay off.

Karate Do is an art form that we all need to help preserve reguardless of your sub-style. It dose not matter if you Kenpo,Kyokushin,or Shotokan, corruption of Karate Do in the West is something we must all correct. I strongly believe that we should do away with the point sparring system and make Karate Do a restricted label based on a list of requirements. 90% of the "Karate" dojos in the U.S. have at least 85% Olympic TKD in their corriculm. That's just how extensive the damage is.

I don't know who you're talking to. Full contact is a huge part of Shotokan. Check out the Machida brothers. You shouldn't disrespect other styles like you do. Besides, are you suggesting that in kyukoshin you ALWAYS go full contact, full speed and power, against an opponent at all times? No bag work, no shadow boxing? Training is ALWAYS a full contact brawl? How could anyone train in it?I write this with respect for kyukoshin, and its power. You should learn respect. Respect is part of karate.
