You are right, vivaldi was nowhere near as skilled and intricate a composer as bach. He is loved for his expression and artistry, which only runs so deep. Bach is so ingenious with compositions it is almost ethereal, whilst still maintaining intense emotion amongst ultimate mathematical complexity and perfect form.

IMHO...I am no performer...just a listener. What it appears to me is that JSB was learning from Vivaldi. I do like Vivaldi; however, what Bach accomplished by learning from others' works was to transform them from the, forgive me, banal into the supernal. For my part listening to Vivaldi is wonderful, but after the first few auditions I do not care if I hear it again for years. That is not the case with any of Bach. I can listen for the rest of my life and find something new and amazing.

The original Vivaldi one is way cool, but this transcription by Bach is good too.
