As an American observer, I really thought Charles was going to drop the "f-bomb" or something. I don't find anything he said offensive or controversial, but then I have to admit, in America our culture has gone down the toilet.

I think in all honesty, he's perfectly justified. Nicholas Witchell is a moron anyway. I appreciate Charles should have been a little more tactful but would the average quiet person enjoy being followed and nagged by these irritating people? I have always thought the British press belong in the gutter. Also if it had been Diana, it would have attracted an outpouring of sympathy.

Being English myself, I did kind of know that! When I said she was our national head, I meant it patriotically, or as you put it much better, a figurehaed. And anyway, she is. The Queen could make Great Britain become run by the monarchy any time, if she so wished. She is also Head of the Commonwealth, Supreme Governor of the Church of England, Duke of Normandy, Lord of Mann, and Paramount Chief of Fiji, in in that way possibly, our national head.

You're exagerrating ever so slightly. The Queen and Prince Charles don't actually have any real power, the government does. You see, the government is elected by the people, while the Royal Family isn't, its members just inherit their privileges by being born into it. The Queen is just a figurehead; Gordon Brown is really the national head.
