Walter is the greatest running back to ever set foot on a professional field sure there are some good ones now but if you read his book "Never Die Easy" you will see that he had many obstacles to overcome and he still became one of the best running backs ever. And notice that he never ran out of bounds he took every hit the only time he went out of bounds was when he was forced to. Say whatever you want but you can never change the fact that Walter Payton is the best running back ever to play.

Does anyone punish runners like E. Campbell W. Payton?? Barber Peterson?? How about B. Jacobs??

Easy does it! With all of the references to Peterson Barber being great. Payton, Brown, Campbell, Sanders were great. Bo Jackson - an injury = who knows. (BO was AWESOME) This generation is much to quick to label greatness. Ever notice our older generation got trophies for a reason (not just playing) A Purple Heart used to mean a lot more than it does today. Today the closest you can get to these guys is Tomlinson.

When Walter Payton first came to the city of Chicago he had a hard time, there were high expectations from him. I think this is where he never wanted the fans to boo him again and so from that point he played harder than ever, never stopping, never giving up, and this is why when you see him run, he runs with heart and ambition. He truly was the best running back, although other players like Sanders were amazing, he added a different dimension to the game and to the city of Chicago.
