CEBU CITY, Philipppines - Foreigners will not just be watching Sinulog 2009, they might also participate in it as well. Angel Espiritu, director of the Department of Foreign Affairs in Central Visayas (DFA-7), said many Filipino communities in other countries, such as the United States and Canada, established their own Sinulog-like festivals to coincide with Cebu City's celebration. The organizers of these "mini-Sinulogs," he said, could be invited to participate in next year's festival.

ano paki sa kanila eh kanya kanyang jurisdiction ang mga yan city and province. saka kita mo talaga kung gaano kayaman ang cebu framerod na traydor na taga ilo-ilo bwahahahahaha punta ka ngang cebu para makkita kung ano meron sila kaysa dyaan ka lang mag mok-mok sa lugar nyo na pagdating ng gabi puro nalang alitap tap makikita mo bwahahahahaha promdi ka kupal!

Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmeña has questioned the capacity of communities to sustain tourism initiatives requiring a lot of logistics and subsidies from Capitol. He observed that participating local governments in the Suroy-Suroy Sugbo caravan spend as much as P300,000 for only 200 visitors.
